London: As delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said took part in the opening of the new premises of Oxford Islamic Studies Centre in the U.K. The premises was opened by Prince Charles, Crown Prince of U.K. in the presence of Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, the Sultanate's Ambassador to U.K.

The design of the building is a mix between the classical Islamic architectural and the well-known architectural traditions of Oxford University.

The building is provided with classrooms, lecture hall, library and other facilities.

It should be noted that the centre established in 1985, has become in 2012 the first specialised institution in Islam studies in U.K.
