After SOTY and Highway, Alia Bhatt now wants to portray the role of Sita on-screen

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt might have just nine films so far in her kitty, but she's already portrayed a variety of roles on the silver screen and won critical accolades too. From playing the role of a rich-brat diva in Student of the Year (2012), a south Indian girl in 2 States (2014) to a Bihar girl in Udta Punjab (2016) and a young urban girl in Dear Zindagi (2016), Alia has tried her hand at quite a few genres.

Recently, when 24-year-old actor said that she would love to essay the role of Sita, it created a lot of curiosity among her fans. The actor expressed her desire at the trailer launch of Amish Tripathi's much anticipated book Sita - Warrior of Mithila on Tuesday.

Enamoured by the trailer of the book, where Sita is shown in a stunning cinematic visual, Alia said that it would be interesting to play her character. "If a film is being made on the book, I would love to play Sita. Her story that we get to know about in this book isn't known to many," she said.

Alia also added that given Ramayana is one of the most talked about story in Indian mythology, she feels people would enjoy watching it on-screen. "The fact that Sita was a warrior, and a protector, also got me interested. So I guess it would be exciting, as I've never played something like this before," added Alia.
The actor then asked Amish that if she plays Sita, whom he would like to cast as Lord Ram, to which the author replied saying actor Ranveer Singh would be able to do justice to the role.

Meanwhile, Alia would be next seen in director Ayan Mukherji's next theatrical venture titled Dragon, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor.
