Italian cultural week at Bait Al Zubair

Muscat: In celebration of the Italian National Day, the Italian Embassy in collaboration with Bait Al Zubair Foundation will be hosting a series of activities to exhibit Italian heritage and culture at Bait Al Nahdhah at Bait Al Zubair from the 21st until 25th May 2017.
A photographic exhibition entitled, “Oman in the Eyes of an Italian”, by the Italian photographer, Nilo Domanico, will open on Sunday, 21st of May at 7:30pm under the auspices of Her Highness Susan Al Said. Mr. Domanico’s photos are chronicles of his journey through the Sultanate describing almost all the aspects of life and people in Oman, shooting the breathtaking landscapes, the historical architecture of villages and forts, and the “pearls” of Muscat, The Sultan Qaboos Mosque and The Royal Opera House. Most of his photos have been exhibited in Italy and were awarded internationally.
More than the other elements in the Italian culture, music is generally eclectic, but has its own unique qualities despite influences from other countries. A chamber music concert entitled, “Magic of the Italian Baroque Music”, featuring brilliant Italian musicians such as Daniela Pisano, Luca Blasio, Matteo Andreini and Laura Chapple, will perform live showcasing the beauty of Italian classical music on the 22nd at 8:00pm.
On the 24th at 11:00am, a conference led by Archeologist Allesandra Avanzini and Professor Mohammed al Muqadam shall take place to talk about Oman’s trade routes during the Roman Empire.
On the last day of the week-long event, a recognition ceremony for students who completed the Italian language course from an Italian professor, Giulia Cappelari, at the Omani Spanish Friendship Association shall take place. Shortly after, a famous Italian movie, “La vita è Bella” (Life is Beautiful) will be shown on screen to present the cinematic brilliance of the Italians at 7:30pm.
