Oman motoring: New satisfying experience with MG GS

My perception about MG GS has changed a lot after driving the vehicle for two days. The advanced features of the vehicle are really impressive as it helps in easy driving, besides improving the comfort levels of the user. Offered in front and all-wheel drive variants, it comes with a commendable level of standard features including six airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, reverse parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity and LED driving lights.

A new experience with MG GS starts off with the characteristic multi-functional central console which is designed to reflect simplicity and unique class in piano black material. Getting comfortable is not too difficult while driving the vehicle as there are plenty of adjustments that can be made in the seat and steering wheel.

All the switches are specifically customised for easy operation without the drivers having to take their eyes off the road. The two front passenger power seats can be adjusted in six directions. The driver will also find it extremely entertaining by the visual and sound that is offered by the 8 inch touch screen monitor. Stability control is joined by cornering brake control, emergency brake assist and anti-lock brakes with emergency brakeforce distribution.

The brakes themselves are discs all-round on all models. Another feature is that tyre pressure monitoring is offered on all models. Equipment standard in all models includes a sunroof, luggage rack, cruise control, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, automatic air-conditioning, power windows, electric parking brake, fog-lights, LED daytime running lamps, rain-sensing wipers, alloy wheels, a cold storage box, security blind for the luggage compartment, Arkamys audio, digital radio, Bluetooth, MP3, iPod-in, and Aux/USB.

The aesthetic design of the MG GS was influenced by various cultural elements of British style. As far as the history of the vehicle is concerned, in 1921, passionate automobile industrialist William Morris and talented designer Cecil Kimber worked together to design the race car of their dreams. They created the MG brand, which became a classic icon of British automotive history.

Since its acquisition of MG, SAIC Motor of China, has opened a new chapter for this purely British brand. Over the past years, SAIC Group has used its knowledge and experience to unveil a renaissance between the British heritage and the Chinese innovation. Due to its design, style and muscular appearance, the MG GS is distinctive in the mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) market segment. The design is a trendy mix that combines sporty elegance with sharp, smooth body lines, and swooping flowing shapes.

The MG GS is powered by a 2.0L turbo engine and delivers an impressive 220 horsepower. Achieving 0-100km/h acceleration approaching 8 seconds, the GS’s performance will rival that of many premium models, bringing a new high-performance driving experience to SUV customers. Around town, the MG GS should exhibit above average ride comfort and will be a tidy cruiser. MG GS is mainly focusing on value for money, which is the unique selling point of many Chinese auto giants.
