The first round of France's presidential election has confirmed a new trend in the country's politics. For the first time ever in the race to the Elysee palace, it's no longer a vote for the traditional socialist or conservative parties. But one for a far-right or independent centerist candidate. Causing both the Conservatives and Socialist parties to do some soul searching on April 24, 2017 (Monday) in emergency meetings. The Republicans have refused to give up - despite not having a candidate in the final runoff.
