Women entrepreneurs take part in programme to boost business

Muscat: Nineteen Omani women entrepreneurs participated in a programme to support their personal businesses.
The programme Mulhimat, (which translates to Inspirational), has launched its initial phase of empowering Omani women entrepreneurs from 13 small and medium enterprises.
The programme falls under Tawasul, which is the first national independent not-for-profit think-tank. The initiative is supported by BP Oman as part of its Social Investment Programme.
Mulhimat has completed its initial phase of training with the women entrepreneurs. Personal assessments of the participating women were conducted, as well as visits to the SMEs.
Following the visits, representatives delivered their assessment results to the entrepreneurs, suggesting improvements for success. Workshops were also conducted, which covered leadership capacity and proficiency in communication.
"Through the Mulhimat Programme, we are aiming to equip Omani women with the right skill sets so that they can improve and develop their SMEs further. Mulhimat devised a series of workshops, visits and events, which had a great impact on the participants, both personally and professionally,” said Hazim Abdullah, CEO at Tawasul.
“We were pleased with the positive feedback we received from the participating Omani women entrepreneurs. They each shared with us the benefits they got from the programme, and how they effectively and practically applied the learnt skills and information to their businesses directly, and the difference that this change brought about,” said Shamsa Ahmed Al Rawahi, BP Oman Social Investment Programme Officer.
“By supporting this program, we are working towards helping participants realise their aspirations, and enhance the performance of their SMEs. We are making a positive impact on the society and the national economy as a whole,” Al Rawahi added.
Hasnaa Al Daudi, explained her goals in joining Mulhimat.
“My aim to participate in this programme was to develop my leadership skills, knowledge and experience. I met a lot of other amazing women entrepreneurs and we helped each other throughout the programme as a team. Although each woman was different and unique in their own ways, the experts who delivered the workshops managed to reach every one of us and provided us with ample information to run our businesses smoothly and easily. I would like to thank Tawasul for giving me the opportunity to be a part of Mulhimat and would like to show my gratitude to BP for sponsoring the programme,” she said.
