Firm trend on Muscat bourse

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse remained firm on Sunday. The MSM30 Index ended on a flat note to close at 5,474.42 points. The MSM Sharia Index gained marginally 0.02 per cent to close at 799.63 points. Bank Sohar was the most active regarding volume as well as turnover. With a gain of 8 per cent, Financial Services was the top gainer while Raysut Cement was the top loser, down 2.54 per cent.
As many as 489 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR2.35 million with 10.993 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded securities, 8 advanced, 11 declined, and 13 remained unchanged. Foreign investors stayed net buyers of OMR89,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR63,000 while Omani investors were net sellers of OMR152,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7994.33 points, down by 0.18 per cent. Financial Services Al Anwar Holding and Bank Sohar increased by 8 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.70 per cent, respectively. Al Batinah Investment, Oman & Emirates, Al Madina Investment, Ominvest, and Al Madina Takaful fell by 2.22 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 1.17 per cent and 1.03 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index fell by 0.43 per cent to close at 7,452.39 points. Al Anwar Ceramic was the only gainer in the sector to close at OMR0.143, up by 0.70 per cent.Raysut Cement, Galfar Engineering, and Oman Fisheries declined by 2.54 per cent, 2.50 per cent and 1.43 per cent, respectively.
Services Index ended at 2,807.23 points, up by 0.35 per cent. OoreedoOman, Phoenix Power, and Oman Telecommunications Company gained by 1.99 per cent, 1.50 per cent and 0.78 per cent, respectively. Al Jazeira Services was the only loser in the sector and was down by 0.63 per cent to close at OMR0.150.
