Haitham launches revamped website of Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Culture

Muscat: As part of a major digital transformation programme, His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, inaugurated the fully revamped ministry website in collaboration with Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel)—the first provider of integrated telecommunications services in the Sultanate.
The new edition of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture’s (MoHC’s) website, www.mhc.gov.om, is the first government website designed by Omantel featuring recent technologies and in line with international best practices. The website enables users to access smart solutions and innovative services. This move is in alignment with Omantel’s goal to further develop the services and solutions offered to enterprise customers.
“We are pleased to launch the new edition of the website that will contribute to promoting Omani heritage, culture, and history on a global platform. The ministry is dedicated to offering cutting–edge electronic services that enable all segments of society, such as consumers, governmental organisations, and private companies to easily access useful information and services. The website is a comprehensive platform that offers insights into events and activities launched by the ministry, complemented with illustrative photography,” said Hassan Mohammed Al Lawati, adviser at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, and chairman of the Digital Transformation of Government Services Committee at the ministry.
“The new website includes a digital library containing 316 titles that allow the readers to browse the publications of the ministry, as well as the services page through which the electronic services will be provided to external beneficiaries,” he added.
“We look forward to making a quantum leap in the e-services provided by the ministry, and are developing our communications and technology systems. This is in line with the Omani government’s vision of digital transformation in the Sultanate. We believe Omantel is the ideal telecommunications partner to work with in order to achieve our desired goals,” added Al Lawati.
Al Lawati further hailed the efforts made by Omantel to develop the ministry’s new website, affirming that Omantel has played a key role in providing the best smart solution and communication services in the telecommunications and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector.
“We are proud of our contributions to designing and launching the new edition of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture website, the first government website designed by Omantel. In doing so, we are strategically aligned with Omantel’s 3.0 digital transformation strategy of making high quality technology available to all stakeholders,” noted Talal Said Al Mamari, chief executive officer of Omantel.
“Omantel provides smart ICT solutions through a specialised unit that offers integrated solutions to all sectors. We extensively invest in developing smart and innovative services that are in line with the global shift in the ICT sector,” noted Al Mamari.
This project is the first project of Omantel’s ICT unit, which is a recently established unit in line with the company’s efforts of digitization. Omantel integrates ICT solutions in order to provide a low cost way of providing ICT resources needed to support various operations of e-government organisations. Omantel is the first telecommunications company in the Sultanate, as well as the preferred provider of integrated communications services to individuals, businesses, and government entities locally and regionally.
