Labour Law violators held in Oman

Muscat: More than 600 workers were found in violation of the Labour Law last week, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

The week from April 9 to the April 15 saw 604 violations, of which 461 were commercial workers, 62 were agricultural workers and 81 were domestic workers.

After investigating the violations, 558 workers were arrested, including 345 fugitive workers, 202 were workers who were let go, and 11 workers who did not carry official documents.

Al-Batinah Governorate recorded the highest number of violations during this period, at 161 cases, followed by Muscat Governorate at 101 cases.

The authorities at the Ministry of Manpower have proceeded with legal action in the cases.

The Ministry of Manpower also recorded during last week the deportation of 536 workers as a result of the violation of the provisions of the Labor Law.
