26 per cent decline in number of residential plots allotted in Oman

Muscat: There has been a 26.2 per cent decline in the number of residential plots granted by the Ministry of Housing in the first quarter of 2017, according to the latest report of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The number of allotted residential lands fell to 7,581 from 10,269 plots issued during the same period last year.
The greatest jump in the number of granted plots was recorded in the governorates of Musandam and South A’Sharqiyah.
There was a rise in the issued residential plots in Musandam, which rose to 503 from last year’s 14 while in South A’Sharqiyah, the number rose by 125 per cent to 360 from last year’s 160. Muscat registered a 46.1 per cent rise in the number of plots issued at 738 while Dhofar logged a decline of 90.2 per cent at 40 plots.
The number of plots granted in Al Buraimi and A’Dakhiliyah stood at 322 and 2,225 marking a rise of 51.2 per cent and 80.5 per cent respectively.
North Al Batinah saw a 91.2 per cent fall in the number of residential plots at 109 plots while South Al Batinah logged a 4.2 per cent rise in allotments at 2,324.
North A’Sharqiyah and A’Dhahirah witnessed a decline of 78.5 per cent and 94.4 per cent at 371and 131 plots respectively.
Al Wusta on the other hand logged a 118.1 per cent growth in the first three months of 2017 at 458.
