Helping underprivileged families in Oman is this firm’s way of giving back

Muscat: For the third consecutive year, a global consulting firm will be distributing food rations amongst Oman’s underprivileged during the holy month of Ramadan, with the help of a local charity.
“It is everyone’s obligation to ensure the poor have access to quality food in the most humanitarian way. Last year, we successfully distributed 65,000 meals among different families, and it was an enriching experience that is forever carved in our memory. We aim to give just as much this year, if not more,” Shatha Al Maskiry, managing director, said.
In 2016, Pro-tiviti (Oman) had helped around 100 families in the Al Misfah region of the Qurayyat and Bausher Shabia areas. They plan on continuing the same service this year.
“We are helping families of 10, who have only one person working. Each family receives a box or two, consisting of 200 to 300 meals per box,” an organiser for the project, Said Al Mahruqi, revealed.
Rice, cooking oil, and spaghetti are some examples of the food in the boxes. According to Mahruqi, desserts, such as crème caramel are also included in the donation.
“This is our third year working with the Nidaa Al Khair Charity. They are one of the smaller charity groups in the country; they lack support and require more help. We are helping both the charity and families with this initiative,” the organiser said.
Faiza Al Rashidi, executive director of Nidaa Al Khair, said the charity visits the beneficiaries every year to make sure that they are well taken care of. “They are very happy to receive the food donations. How it works is that the company brings supplies, and we distribute them. We work closely with the Wali’s office so we can help those in need,” Al Rashidi said.
