Oman Air takes off on first Kenyan voyage

Muscat: “National carrier, Oman Air will target India and China markets to promote Nairobi,” Oman Air chief executive Paul Gregorowitsch said on the sidelines of a function to mark the inaugural flight to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
“After Nairobi, we will be launching daily flights to Manchester from May 1 following the arrival of new aircraft in the last week of April,” he said.
Earlier today, the national carrier launched its new four times weekly flight from Muscat to Nairobi, the latest move in the airline’s ambitious and dynamic programme of fleet and network expansion.
Saeed Bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport and Communication for Ports and Maritime Affairs joined the Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer of Oman Air, Abdulrahman Al Busaidy and other dignitaries in a cake cutting ceremony at Muscat International Airport, to celebrate the inaugural flight.
The five hour flight operated by a Boeing 737-800 departs Muscat at 1450 and arrives in Nairobi at 1855, leaving on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
From Nairobi, the flights will depart on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, leaving at 0045 and arriving in Muscat at 0650.
“The new Oman Air route to the Kenyan capital Nairobi is a significant development for both countries. Trade between Kenya and Oman has been growing steadily over the years and the new flight will facilitate the increase in bilateral trade and investment opportunities,” a senior official of Oman Air said on Tuesday.
Oman Air’s recent expansion has included the delivery of new aircraft and the introduction of a range of exciting new destinations, new products and services which contribute to a seamless passenger experience. The airline continues to be recognized for its award winning on board experience; winning a raft of industry awards in 2016 to add to its growing collection.
