eOman pavilion at Comex 2017 for state entities

Muscat: Aiming to promote e-government projects and initiatives in the Sultanate, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) and a number of government entities are participating in the twenty-seventh edition of the COMEX exhibition under the umbrella of e.oman pavilion.
The exhibition will be take place for the first time in the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center from 28 March to 1 April 2017.
Omar Salim Al Shanfary, Deputy ITA CEO for Operations, said: “The e.oman pavilion will include six main pillars including, innovation zone, future technologies that include Internet of Things and Smart Cities, business center, eTransformation section, eLearning section, security section; in addition to government entities section.”
Al Shanfary also said: “14 Government entities are participating this year in the COMEX 2017 exhibition to introduce their electronic services and launch a number of new services. In addition, more than 100 IT companies from 9 countries will participate in the exhibition: Malaysia, France, Italy, Iran, Jordan, UAE, Kuwait and Yemen, as well as a number of government and private institutions from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.”
On the summit accompanying the exhibition, Al Shanfary said, “This year, Smart Cities Summit - Oman will be held for the first time in Oman through a strategic partnership with Smart Cities Council, Information Technology Authority, Oman Broadband Company and Omran Company. The Summit will be held on March 28 and 29 at Hall 3 at
the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
During the summit, several important topics will be addressed, including: a review of global trends in the implementation of smart cities and ways of implementing them in the Sultanate through the creation of unified national infrastructures and networks.
In addition to discussing the challenges facing the application of smart cities and possible solutions to overcome them, as well as highlighting the benefits of implementing smart cities projects, especially in the economic and other development areas.”
COMEX exhibition is the biggest ICT event in the Sultanate, featuring alongside the e.oman Pavilion a section for the business including the leading companies in the IT sector and communications from inside and outside the Sultanate, in addition to the shopping section and it displays the latest gadgets and technical products of interest to consumers.
