Third Entrepreneurship Award launched in Oman

Muscat: Small and medium enterprises have the opportunity to gain much needed marketing and promotional support as the third Entrepreneurship Award was launched on Tuesday morning (March 21, 2017).
The initiative will seek to add in-country value by working with local enterprises and generating jobs for Omanis as well as driving the country to a well established and diversified economy.
The three main categories of the awards are the Entrepreneurship Award, Entrepreneurship Award for SMEs and Entrepreneurship Supporters’ Award as well as other sub-categories where the winners will get cash prizes of OMR 8,000 up from OMR 3,000 from previous editions. The Entrepreneurship Award for medium enterprises’ prize money is OMR 12,000.
Tariq Al Farsi, the Award’s Committee Chairman and CEO of Al Raffd Fund said, “This year’s edition is special where we will select the best participants and completely achieve the development of entrepreneurship development by partnership between the public and private sector.”
The theme of this year’s Award is “Success is a Shared Responsibility” conveying the message that all can contribute in enhancing Omani entrepreneurs’ competitiveness and their businesses.
The Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, Riyada, will provide marketing and promotional support to the winners and will continue to support the establishments as long as they are committed.
Participants will be able to register through Riyada’s website on May 14 until July 2017. The assessment for the participants will begin on August 1 and the jury will decided on the best initiative on November 1.
The winners will be announced on January 2018.
In the last two editions, there were 401 participants with the expectation for more to register this year.
