Muscat: Anish Sood and Vikas Dixit will represent Oman at the Audi quattro Cup World Final, the largest amateur golf tournament in the world, to be held at Quivira Golf Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from December 1 to 5.

Several Audi customers and golf enthusiasts keenly contested the pairs event of the Audi quattro Cup Oman 2017 held at the Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club on March 3. This is the sixth time that Wattayah Motors LLC, the distributor for Audi Oman, sponsored the Audi quattro Cup team tournament in the Sultanate.

Anish Sood and Vikas Dixit clinched first place (combined team handicap of 12) with 44 stableford points in a closely fought finish.

Pawan Singh and Sanjoli Singh took second place on a stroke index countback (combined team handicap of 13) with 42 stableford points.

Farique Tareen and Aashwin Chowdhary secured third place (combined team handicap of 23) with 42 stableford points.

Meanwhile, Ketan Mehta (Men, Hole 3), Sanjoli Singh (Ladies, Hole 14), Geetesh Tamse (Combined Men & Ladies, Hole 7) won the Nearest The Pin awards. John Salway (Men, Hole 16) and Lynn Casey (Ladies, Hole 1) won the Longest Drive awards.

David Ryan, General Manager of Wattayah Motors, said: “The Oman edition of the Audi quattro Cup brought together enthusiastic golfers who share the passion and drive to perform. It was yet another exhilarating experience for the players, as well as the organisers.

“The Audi quattro Cup is an incredible opportunity for golfers in Oman. We thank Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club for the great venue and support in organising the tournament. We are certain that this tournament will further promote Oman’s growing reputation as an ideal golfing destination.”

Congratulating the winners, he said: “We wish them the best of luck for the finals in Mexico as they pit their skills against other winning teams from 50 countries. We commend all the other winners of the Oman event and thank everyone for taking part and making it such a great day.”

This series is special as every team winning its regional tournament is being invited to the national final and thus has the opportunity to qualify for the world final to be held in Mexico.

In the spirit of innovation and performance, Audi and the sport of golf come together to form the Audi quattro Cup in 1991, one of the largest amateur golf tournaments in the world. Every year Audi dealers from 51 different countries organise more than 800 tournaments worldwide with over 100,000 participating amateur golfers.
