Workers in Oman fined for selling unlicensed herbal products

Muscat: Workers were fined by a Seeb court for selling unlicensed herbal products and expired oils to customers.

Judicial officers from the Department of Consumer Protection in Seeb arrested workers from a herbal store who were caught refilling herbal products and adding expiration dates to their products.

The officers also seized oil and other expired products. They also found capsules and herbal products that were unlicensed and unregistered with the responsible authorities in addition to storing the goods in unsuitable places which is a violation of the condition set by the PACP.

Officers also registered violations against a clinic which is affiliated with the store for selling unlicensed drugs (medicine).

The PACP also raided a farm used to manufacture the herbal products as well as the worker’s accommodation.

The case was referred to the preliminary court in Seeb where the judge fined each worker OMR 500 on charges of distributing unlicensed products and failure to present correct information to consumers as well as ordering the products to be destroyed.
