Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik invited the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to visit Oman.
This comes after His Majesty the Sultan and an accompanying delegation visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for two days, returning on Monday.
HM'S visit to KSA
During the visit, talks were held between the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, according to a joint statement by Oman and KSA.
In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, the prospects for joint cooperation and ways of developing it in various fields were reviewed, including the political, military and security spheres.
MOU signed
A memorandum of understanding was signed regarding the establishment of an Omani-Saudi Coordination Council, headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries to strengthen their bilateral relations in various fields, which will allow for ease of movement of citizens and the integration of supply chains to achieve the desired economic integration.
They affirmed their determination to work towards Kingdom's Vision 2030 and Oman's Vision 2040, by launching a set of joint initiatives, including investments in the Duqm region, cooperation in the field of energy, in addition to partnerships in the field of food security, and cooperation in cultural, sports and tourism activities.
They also welcomed the convening of the Omani-Saudi Business Council, with participation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, and the two presidents of the Omani-Saudi Business Council from both sides.
Views exchanged
The two sides also exchanged views on issues and topics of concern to the two countries on the regional and international arenas and agreed to coordinate their positions to serve common interests and enhance security and stability in the region and the rest of the world.
They agreed to work towards a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni National Dialogue Conference and UN Security Council Resolution No. (2216), as well as the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
They also discussed dealing with the Iranian nuclear and missile file with all its components and repercussions, their contribution to achieving regional and international security and stability, and respect for UN resolutions and international legitimacy.
