Production of M91 petrol in Oman surged during January

Muscat: Oman’s production of M-91 petrol surged 59 per cent in January compared with the production in the same month last year to reach 622,000 barrels, according to the latest NCSI update.
Production of M-95 rose by 4 per cent to touch 1.526 million barrels, the update said.
Gas oil, aviation fuel and LPG recorded increased production of 19 per cent, 9 per cent and 130 per cent,respectively, taking the figures to 1.93 million, 474,000, and 359,000 barrels in the first month of the year.
In the petrochemicals segment, benzene production went up by 29 per cent to 22,000 tonnes, while paraxylene production rose by 11 per cent to 61,000 tonnes. Polypropylene output stood at 20,000 tonnes.
Domestic sales of M91 logged a significant 111 per cent year-on-year increase in January at 548,000 barrels, while M95 sales declined 17 per cent to 1.38 million barrels.
Gas oil sales also suffered, plunging 10 per cent to 1.32 million barrels. In contrast, domestic sale of aviation fuel oil and LPG went up by 10 per cent and 9 per cent to 403,000 and 204,000 barrels, respectively.
Export of LPG rose 354 per cent to 168,000 barrels, while aviation fuel export fell 62 per cent to 64,000 barrels in January,compared to last year’s figures.
Petrochemicals exports fared strongly with exports of benzene, paraxylene and polypropylene showing a healthy year-on-year growth of 108 per cent, 70 per cent and 400 per cent, reaching 25,000, 90,000 and 15,000 tonnes, respectively, in January.
Compared with December last year, the production of petrol increased by 10.4per cent, while the total production at ORPIC grew by 20.5per cent in January this year.
