Badminton: Great start to ISC Open in Salalah

Muscat: Indian Social Club Salalah Open Badminton Tournament began at the Sultan Qaboos Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium in Salalah with much grandeur.
The tournament, which is sponsored by, Al Takween Building Materials and Machine World will witness contests in singles, doubles, jumbled doubles and veteran doubles categories.
The gala opening ceremony, which was kicked-off by Vinay Kumar, Jt. General Secretary of Indian Social Club Salalah, saw Manpreet Singh, Chairman Indian Social Club Salalah and Abdul Sathar, Managing Director of Al Takween Building Materials and Machine Tool playing the first ceremonial game.
Manpreet Singh urged the players to foster friendship among the members with sports activities. He further emphasised on the role of the sports in maintaining good health.
Sports secretary Benoy Joseph and Vice-Chairman Sunny Jacob coordinated the activities and Management Committee Members Dileep and Nicolas D’Zouza, main referee Ramesh Kumar were the other dignitaries present.
On the opening day, in Open Singles, Manu Samuel defeated John at the score of 21-16, 21-6. In the second match, Prasanth defeated Praveen at the score of 21-19, 21-15.
In open doubles, Dhanesh and Pramod defeated Santhosh and Shibu at the score of 21-17, 21-9. In another match, Shaiju P D and Biju beat Rajasekhar and Muneer at the score of 21-10, 18-21, 21-14.
In the jumbled doubles, Hashim and Sibi Manoharan defeated Shihab and Rajan 21-18, 21-16.
