Oman's State Council to discuss food production and food security

Muscat: Promotion of food security and production in the Sultanate will be among the issues on which Dr. Fu’ad bin Ja’afar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries will speak on Tuesday.
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries will be hosted by the State Council at the Council’s headquarters in Al Bustan.
Dr. Al Sajwani will give a visual presentation for the honourable members of the Council under the title “Agricultural and Fisheries Production System and Food Security” in the presence of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, Dr. Khalid bin Salim Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council and honourable members of the Council.
During the presentation Dr. Al Sajwani will deal with several themes related to promoting food security system in the Sultanate, including the importance of food production.
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries will also dwell on performance levels of the agriculture and fisheries during the previous period.
He will also talk about the challenges facing the two sectors, in addition to discussing the current and future plans and programmes of the ministry to promote agriculture, fisheries and food production sectors and the expected results for that.
Hosting Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries comes within the framework of the council’s works for the 2nd sitting of the 6th term, as well as within the framework of integration, coordination and positive interaction among various units of the state to serve the public interest in order to achieve the desired national goals. -ONA
