Sandan, Strategic group to build large student housing complex in Oman

Muscat: Sandan Development and Strategic Housing Group have signed an agreement on Monday to develop a first-of–its-kind off-campus student housing complex in Muscat.
The Strategic Housing Group will develop the project alongside its local partner Sandan Development, a reputed developer in Oman.
The complex, called the Myriad Muscat, will be located close to the Sultan Qaboos University and other highly reputed educational institutions. Situated in a secure environment, it will have the capacity to host approximately 2,600 residents.
The construction work for the project, which will have a capital expenditure of $110 million, will start this year and the project will be ready for occupation by September 2019.
A total of 1,550 bedrooms have been carefully designed with comfortable furnishings, including study desks, smart storage and other facilities. The rooms, including single or multiple occupancy ones, will have a variety of configurations to suit all requirements. Common areas have been cleverly optimised to cater to residents’ needs and will feature shared trendy lounges and well-quipped modern kitchens on each floor. Those are envisaged for group study and socialising.
Strategic Housing Group is the Middle East, Asia and Africa partner of Asset Campus International, the largest student-housing firm in the United States.
In order to ensure convenience, the complex will have a two-floor retail area that will serve both residents and other visitors. In addition to a supermarket and other retail stores, it will include a full-fledged fitness club, food outlets such as a food court and coffee shops. The complex will have two levels of basement parking for both residents and visitors.
Appropriate and dedicated student housing is among the most important services that higher education students require, particularly when they travel a fair distance to their place of study.
Comfort, convenience, safety and enjoyable ambience were among the main factors that were considered while designing the complex. The architects carefully designed the complex façade to blend into the local environment seamlessly, keeping in mind the traditional surroundings. The Italian architectural firm,Mandressigmbh, was appointed to design the buildings.
