Two Indians expats found dead in Oman planned to start a business

Muscat: Two Indian expats who were found dead in Salalah were planning to open a crushing plant in Thumrait next month.
Manpreet Singh, Chairman of the Indian Social Club, Salalah and Honorary Consular Agent (Dhofar Region) for the Embassy of India, Muscat, said the deceased were identified as Muhammed Musthafa and Najeeb Mohammed from the south Indian state of Kerala.
“They had come to Oman on a visit visa and were planning to start a crusher plant in Thumrait,” he said.
Thumrait is 80 km away from Salalah and has a large number of crushing plants. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) found one of them dead in his apartment and the other in a nearby building on Sunday at Dahariz.
“A resident saw him lying on the road at 3 am in the morning and immediately informed the ROP. Najeeb was supposed to fly back to India on Sunday as his visa was about to expire. But before that, he was found dead under mysterious circumstances,” social workers said, adding that the exact cause of the deaths was yet to be ascertained.
Social workers said Musthafa and Najeeb had partnered with another Indian and an Omani to start the plant.
“They had been here for the last two months and had recently completed all the formalities. They were supposed to start their new business next week,” social worker P M Jabir said.
They also informed that their bodies will be sent to India once the investigations are over. “Right now, we are trying to trace their family members in Cochin in India, but the problem is that not many people knew them as they were here on a visit,” social workers said.
