Oman weather: Hail, rain fall in Musandam, expect more showers

Muscat: Hail and rain fell in several parts of Musandam on Monday, resulting in overflowing of wadis. Light to moderate rain also fell in other parts of Oman on Monday.
Meteorological department Officials said that light rain was also reported at several places in Buraimi. The low pressure system is expected to continue until Wednesday.
“We are expecting rain in North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahira, Muscat, Al Dhakhliya and North and South Al Sharqiyah as the low pressure system moves,” an official of the Met Department said, adding the depression may bring more rain in the northern governorates.
“During this time, the sea will be moderate to rough along the coastal areas of Musandam and Sea of Oman with maximum wave height of 2.5 metres. However, it will remain slight along the rest of coastal areas of Oman with a maximum wave height of 1.25 metres,” a weather report said.
The Met Department also said that visibility will be reduced during thundershowers,therefore, people should drive carefully.
The Public Authority Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA)) has urged people to stay away from low-lying areas, as well as overflowing wadis.
