Muscat: Waves of families from various governorates descended on Muscat Festival opening weekend despite rainy showers and gusting winds.
Visitors were entertained with magic shows, on-stage performances and traditional Omani folk music - running until the festival ends.
Fireworks displays will take place every night at 8:30pm in both Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens for the duration of the fest.
Naseem Gardens boasts a rainforest with tropical plants to dazzle visitors. There will also be five-a-side football tournament which will go on until February 11.
Tour of Oman will also entertain spectators as the race is planned to begin on February 14 until February 19. As the annual jubilee began on Thursday, people started entering the parks at 4pm and gradually increased in numbers.
Children were seen pulling their parents hastily towards the attractions and amusement rides in the early hours of the festival.
