#OmanPride: Pakistani writer translates books on His Majesty Sultan Qaboos

Muscat: A Pakistani national went the extra mile in his efforts to cement the ties between his country and Oman.
Eight years ago, Ameer Hamza launched a cultural magazine, Islam Solidarity, to educate the Pakistani community about the GCC countries.

“It is an elite magazine in Urdu and Arabic and addresses intellectuals in Pakistan,” Ameer said. The editor of the monthly magazine told the Times of Oman that he has translated two books on His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and will publish them after he receives the green light from the concerned authorities.
“The magazine, however, highlights the cultural aspects of Arab countries based on research by top journalists, intellectuals and university professors,” he noted.
He explained that the magazine caters to Pakistani and Omani readers. “We approach embassies, especially embassies of the GCC countries in Pakistan as well as the Islamic studies departments in various local universities,” Ameer added.
“Since there are not enough Arabic readers in Pakistan, we approach academics in the Middle East and Pakistan and encourage them to read about Oman and know more about His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s role in achieving peace in the region,” Ameer explained. He added that the magazine issues a special edition every November to mark the National Day of Oman and to highlight the Sultanate’s role in achieving peace.
So far, Islam Solidarity has released four editions dedicated to Oman. While the magazine is mainly distributed in Pakistan, Ameer said he brings some copies to Oman for the Pakistani community in the Sultanate.
